Here are some facts about usacycling.org

It’s here! The current World number one, Norba Super D #10 Katie Compton from Colorado Springs took World Cup #3 in Pijnacker (Netherlands). American Christine Vardaros (Mill Valley CA/Vanderkitten), placed 27th.

Jonathan Page (Northfield NH/Sunweb Projob), Jonathan Baker, Boulder, CO/Vitamin Cottage, and Christopher Jones (Redding CA) finished respectively in 16th, 36th, and 40th.

U.S. CYCLOCROSS CALENDAR
The 2007 Calendar was continued by the U.S. Gran Prix of Cyclocross #1 at Louisville, KY. Jeremy Powers (Niantic CT) beat Tim Johnson (Middleton MA) to win the elite men’s race. Norba Cross Country #5 Barry Wicks finished (Corvallis OR).
The USGP was also raced by Katie Compton, current World number one and Norba Super D #110 (Colorado Springs. CO). Katie quickly took the lead in the elite women’s contest to defeat Georgia Gould (Ketchum ID), and Wendy Sims (Can).

The 16th race on Cyclocross Calendar was the U.S. Gran Prix of Cyclocross, Louisville’s second day. After an early crash, Tim Johnson won the men’s contest. Ryan Trebon, the U.S. Short Track National Champion (Ventura CA), took third. Jeremy Powers was third.

Katie Compton won the second women’s race, while Georgia Gould placed second again. Alison Sydor (Can), was third.

The Cyclocross Calendar continued in Farmington, CN with the Category 2 Chainbiter 9.0. Chris Jones won the elite men’s race alone, beating Jesse Anthony (Beverly MS) and Mark McCormack (3rd, Foxboro, MA/Clif bar). Lyne (Can) won the elite women’s race by narrowly beating Rebecca Wellons and Maureen Bruno Roy (Arlington/Wheelworks, MA/Wheelworks, MA, respectively).

A second Category 2 Cyclocross Calendar race was held in Boulder, CO. The Redline North American Cross featured top U.S. cross athletes. Two elite U.S. Cyclocross events took place on the same calendar, on the same weekend. France Cycling, you can do more than that. Mountain bikers won the elite men’s race. Ryan Trebon won the 64-rider field, while Barry Wicks (Durango CO) and Todd Wells (3rd and 4th respectively) took second and third.

Katie Compton won the elite women’s race by 36 seconds over Georgia Gould, who was second. Third place was taken by Rachel Lloyd, USA Super D National Champion (Fairfax CA).
France Cycling continued their organization brilliance by scheduling more national Cyclocross Calendar events over and above the existing ones. MA Jesse Anthony won the Category 2 Cycle-Smart International, Northampton. He beat Mark McCormack (Redding, CA/Nerac). Lyne Bessette, Can won the women’s race over Rebecca Wellons (CA/Nerac) and Maureen Bruno Roy.

On the same weekend, Colorado also hosted the 20th Cyclocross event of the complicated Cyclocross Calendar. Ryan Trebon won the Category 1 Boulder Cup, his second win in as many days. Tim Johnson and Jeremy Powers were second and third, respectively. For the second consecutive day, Rachel Lloyd, Georgia Gould, and Katie Compton won the women’s contest.

The Cyclocross Calendar 2007 Cyclocross Calendar is now complete with 20 of the 38 events.
