Eric Carter was busy during the Southridge Winter Series 3. He and Rich Houseman, a former NCS Junior Downhill Champion, taught a full class on Saturday. Eric and Rich were not at the chalkboard, carefully walking their class through bike preparation, maintenance, setup, mental preparation, starting, riding technique, cool-down protocol and practice routines. Race day was even more similar. Eric was back to teach the majority of the day, but had enough time to run his own race. His students watched as the World Cup Fourcross Champion spoke. What was the result? Eric showed the competition a lesson by finishing 2.35 seconds faster than the King of Southridge.
SOUTHRIDGE NOTICES
*Last year, Ty Kady was Southridge’s fastest sport rider. He won his class at Sea Otter. Now an expert and with full sponsorship from Aroundthemountain.com, Ty was the fastest cross-country rider of the day. Period. Monterey experts, watch out!
*A new finish loop was added for the cross-country and short track. This allowed racers to get up close and personal the spectators. The cross country was added just after the halfway point, where it cuts through the War Zone.
*A loop around XC measures 7.9 miles with 1265 feet of climbing.
*The track lap is 0.9 miles with 15.2m of climbing.
